Blogging again…

There has been so much going on this year, time to blog about it! I’ve decided not to close this blog, but keep both this for ramblings and     http://tracylewisart.typepad.com/tracy-lewis-art/ for a website. I also have a new blog for a new group studio in Sacramento http://brickalley.wordpress.com/. 

I’m excited to be part of a group show at 20th St. Art Gallery ths month! http://www.20art.net/  This Saturday night from 6 to 9pm I will be there for the 2nd Sat. reception, so come by and see me! I have 9 watercolors in the show. Here’s one ~

So much coming up to make new painting for ~ Our Grand Opening at Brick Alley Art Studios in September, along with the CAST Studio Tour  http://www.ccasac.org/, the El Dorado County Studio Tour, Art and Wine Festival, 2nd and 3rd Sat Art Walks…eeek…I’d better get painting!

I have new classes and workshops coming up soon too…I’ll keep you posted. Right now my weekly Placerville class is working on a portrait of my dog Aiko. She makes a fun project (not just because she’s so cute) because of all the color we can find in the black & white. For September we’ll paint a human portrait.

Speaking of Aiko…She just came to live with us a  month or so ago thanks to my friend Emily. Aiko is just the sweetest and most wonderful dog! I can’t imagine being without her now. We took her with us to Dillon Beach recently and my friend Diane took this beautiful photo of her ~

20-20 Show

The 20-20 Show at 20th Street Art Gallery is right around the corner! There will be 65 artists, each displaying 20 8″x8″ themed paintings. My theme is the contemporary goddesses I’ve been working on. I’ve really enjoyed researching all of the mythological characters and playing with their symbolism. I’ve been extremely fotunate to find so many willing victims to model for me, or let me use their photos! The show runs November 11 thru December 24. Second Saturday Art Walk receptions 6 to 9pm on Nov.14  & Dec. 12. For more info visit http://www.20art.net/

More from my goddess series……….only 22 left to go………yikes! I do have lots of drawings though, and that’s half the work.  Here are Blodeuedd, Aphrodite and Psyche. They all have sparkley watercolors on them, but they don’t really show up here. Oh, well.

Studio Tour

I’ve been busy getting ready for this weekend ~ September 18, 19, 20 El Dorado County Artists Studio Tour 2009 10am to 5pm ~ 91 artists in 30 locations. Dan Bray is going to be at my studio with me showing his beautiful pottery. We’ll also be open for 3rd Saturday Art Walk on the 19th from 6 to 9pm. Everyone is welcome all weekend, you don’t have to have a tour book to come by, we’d love to see you! 429 Main St. Placerville.

If you’re out in El Dorado Hills check out the show at Hang It Up Gallery in the Town Center, I won a first place for my watercolor painting “ratskullcandy”!  :)

Oh! and coming up in November is the 20th Street Art Gallery’s 20/20 show, I’ll have twenty 8″x8″ (plus 5 in reserve) paintings of contemporary goddesses. The show runs through December.
